Washington, DC (Sonique Solutions) – This past Juneteenth Weekend within the USA, the Hookie Life Entertainment team once more delivered another successful execution of its beloved, annual summertime staple ‘Hookie Weekend’. Caribbean culture was on full display during this line-up of exciting events which attracted thousands of festival lovers to the Washington DC metropolitan region for full a weekend of unmatched revelry.
With 6 major events over the span of 5 days, the 2022 edition created memorable moments for its patrons complete with the absolute best of authentic West Indian entertainment.
Following the epic Thursday night kick-off event ‘Release Therapy’ at the Ivy City Smokehouse which featured a dynamic performance by US Virgin Islands Soca star Adam O, attendees from various US & Canadian cities and Caribbean islands converged at the venue, Gateway DC for the Hookie Weekend Friday afternoon fixture referred to as ‘Hookie DC’.
For this event which is considered the top of the range Caribbean pool party, the organizing team transformed Gateway DC into ‘vibes central’ with a soothing pool, VIP cabanas, a spread of games to travel along side the ‘Arcade’ theme and a number of other cross-cultural food stalls and bars which were strategically located round the venue.
Adding to Hookie DC’s allure were energetic sets by top international DJs and performances from T&T’s Kes The Band and Voice, Grenada’s Mr. Killa and Jamaica’s Kranium.
Lion’s Pride J’ouvert gave attendees the prospect to embrace uninhibited freedom with paint and powder. The signature Saturday morning Hookie weekend J’ouvert event was well patronized and left fans wanting more. This event was followed later that evening by Shine DC (a collaborative effort between Hookie Life Entertainment and Back to Basics Entertainment).
Sunday afternoon’s Riddim & Road was Hookie Weekend’s penultimate event which saw several masqueraders, multiple music trucks, drinks trucks and even live drummers hit the road at the Rosecroft Raceway for an ingenious Carnival-costumed celebration. During this event, patrons got extra mileage from their previous regional and international Carnival costumes also as their Monday wear and original costume creations.
Hookie Weekend 2022 ended on a very high note with the newest addition to the line-up i.e. the calm down affair ‘Oasis’ .
