The event took place today (Wednesday, February 18) at a ceremony held at Government House. The Oath of Allegiance, Office and the Oath of Secrecy were administered by Resident Judge Marlene Carter while Governor General His Excellency Sir Edmund Lawrence presented the instrument of appointment.
“I pledge as the Prime Minister of the country to uphold all Oaths that I have taken, to work diligently for the prosperity of the country and equally important, the deepening of the democracy,” the new St. Kitts and Nevis leader expressed. “… We commit to fairness and a fairer share for all.”
Prime Minister Thanked persons that participated in the recent general election and those that prayed for the prosperity of the nation.
The swearing in was witnessed by family and close friends along with several candidates from the winning team that contested the 2015 General Election held on February 16. A large number of well wishers also gathered around the environs of Government House to show support.
The Honourable Vincent Byron Jr. was also sworn in as Attorney General and a Senator in the Federal Parliament. Members of the new Cabinet will be sworn in at a public ceremony to be announced later. Article courtesy SKNIS
