Home African Caribbean Grenada Prime Minister’s Christmas Message

Caribbean news. Dr. The Rt. Hon. Keith C. Mitchell, Prime Minister, Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, Christmas Message, 2014

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” [Luke 2:14] Keith Mitchell

Fellow Grenadians,

Season’s Greetings and God’s richest blessings to everyone for a bright and prosperous New Year.

Christmas is a time to gather with family and friends; to look back with gratitude, and to look forward with hope.

Sisters and brothers, in this season of goodwill, let us reflect on the many blessings that 2014 brought to us.

Like never before, this has been a year in which our country pulled together to overcome the challenges with which we have been confronted.

Together, we have made real progress in strengthening our economy and creating more opportunities so that our people can provide for their families.

Our government will continue to work tirelessly to create a productive environment for all, as we continue to promote the things that unite us as Grenadians.

As a Christian nation, let us live out the words of Acts in the Holy Scriptures, which call us to “help those in need by working hard, [remembering] the words of the Lord Jesus: It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Let us therefore put our faith into action, and reach out to our neighbours during this season of goodwill.

My hands remain outstretched, in benevolence to our brothers and sisters everywhere, who are interested in nation building.

We have a responsibility to work together, to look out for each other, and to build a better life for our children and grandchildren.

Consequently, I continue to be grateful to our social partners for their commitment in this regard.

I also thank the men and women who, throughout the year, have answered the call to put aside differences and work together for this beautiful nation.

Together, we will make a difference.

Together we will ensure the education of our children; together we will feed the hungry; together we will help repair broken families.

Together we will take care of our sick, our elderly, our vulnerable and our young people.

Sisters and brothers, the possibilities of what we can achieve together are endless.

Let our collective aspirations echo in our laughter and our joy this festive season, and always.

Most of all, let us ascribe all praise and gratitude to the Christ Child; the real reason that we can celebrate together.

So, on behalf of the Government, my family and the entire nation, I wish everyone a blessed Christmas and a brighter, happier 2015.
