These are the things that make grown men cry. As I said last week losing to a top team is bad, but to lose to a team that is ranked below you and you are already at the bottom, is almost unforgivable. But to be bowled out by said team for your second lowest total ever… is suicide!
West Indies team needs to understand that their fan base is shrinking. And there is so much and no more that their dedicated fans can take without calling it a day. Thus when they are losing against the bigger teams the fans will take those losses hurtful knowing that they will win one match here and there. But when they get a lower ranked team; it is expected that they will take their frustration out on that team and dominate the series.
Well, that is the expectation of the dedicated fans. The fact is a lot of the fans have already given up on the team. They simply have no expectation for the team, so they would not have been surprised or disappointed at the team being bowled out for 61 against Bangladesh. This for them is just another nail in the West Indies team’s coffin.
Where are our heroes when we need them? I am sorry but personally I would not spend my money to watch this current team play. There is not one standing out player on the team that you can say is displaying his natural talent; Marlon Samuels ‘might’ be the only exception.
I say this unequivocally that Brian Charles Lara was West Indies last hero.
I mean the team was in decay when he was playing, but everybody became excited as soon as he entered the field. Even in a losing effort you had fans going home smiling because they saw a century from Lara.
This team just looks hopeless. They are making an absolute mockery of the legacy that was left to them by our heroes. It is as if they are playing to see how low they can go before they get everybody to be disinterested in cricket. Is the 61 all out against Bangladesh the final blow for some fans?
