A new Civil Rights organisation is looking to appoint a Head of Research to join its growing team. They have a high-profile board and are due to launch early this year (2022). The Head of Research is a pivotal role and will lead on research activity, with a focus on coproduction and collaboration with external partners.

The charity is committed to data-driven and evidence-led social change, and the new Head of Research will oversee all of the organisation’s research programmes and partnerships. It’s an amazing opportunity: you’ll devise a comprehensive research programme which will underpin all of our work; lead on the flagship annual Black Voices research report, developing the methodology and reach; and convene Black academics and those working on relevant areas of research to establish an academic network for the organisation.

The charity are inviting interest from experienced researchers, preferably with a quantitative research background (though candidates with strong qualitative expertise will also be considered). You must have conducted primary research and will bring a strong track record of achievements in a relevant field. Familiarity with existing data sources that will be salient for the work will be a distinct advantage, and you will be adept at designing and delivering cause-driven or social policy research projects.

A new Civil Rights organisation is looking to appoint a Head of Engagement to join otheur growing team. They have a high-profile board and are due to launch early this year (2022). The Head of Engagement will be a key role in the organisation and will lead on co-design and co-production, with a focus on community level engagement, and working with grassroots organisations.

They are seeking a high calibre Head of Engagement for a newly created position, responsible for leading on all the organisation’s engagement activity with Black communities, co-designing the charity’s strategy development, projects, programmes, research and campaigns. You’ll need to bring extensive experience of Black community engagement, preferably with a grassroots community background, and this should include experience of co-designing projects or services. Deft, careful relationship management and stakeholder engagement is a must, and you’ll also have developed credible anti-racism strategies and interventions.

Candidates will be warm, confident and relatable, and able to communicate with and influence a diverse range of audiences, in a range of settings. Instinctively an active listener, you’ll be skilled at bringing people together around an issue and mobilising support for a campaign. A demonstrable
commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, plus political sensitivity and awareness, are non-negotiable. You’ll be a positive thinker with boundless reserves of energy, a “can do” attitude, and a total commitment to your team. The strongest applicants will also bring a strong understanding of the Black community sector and of diverse Black communities in the UK, as well as knowledge of Salesforce or a similar CRM system.
