This has opened itself as big market opportunity and many plans to develop the agricultural sector are coming into play.
Many opportunities within this sector will be the focus at Carib Food & Hospitality – the first Caribbean food, hotel and restaurant exhibition that will take place at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre in Bridgetown, Barbados, from 6 – 8 July 2017.
This event will host Salon Culinaire, a series of display-based culinary competitions; entry to which is open to professional chefs, pastry chefs, cooks and bakers. From practical cooking competitions to buffet and banqueting show pieces, chefs showcase their talent through a wide range of skills and techniques. Categories for the awards include: Caribbean chef of the year – Young Caribbean chef of the year – Best Cuisinier – Best Kitchen Artist – Best Pastry Chef – Best Chocolate Carving Showpiece – Best Pastry Showpiece – Best Fusion Chef
The show’s workshops will look at the following topics:
• How to run a profitable hospitality business through cost control and purchasing?
• Innovation in products and technology for the food service industry?
• Utilising local produce in your restaurant and hotel
• Health and safety techniques in food preparation
