BBC heavy weight addresses Caribbean Seminar

 You’re invited once again to join CaribDirect Multi-Media and Sankofa Televisual for an evening of discussion on the topic CARIBBEAN  (IN)VISIBILITY  ON  BRITISH  TV/CINEMA  SCREENS. This production is part of the CaribDirect “The Caribbean And You” seminar series.

The event will take place tomorrow Thursday 5th December 2013 at the Dominica High Commission 1 Collingham Gardens, London, SW5 0HW. It will start promptly at 6.30pm and is being held in honour of the late comic genius and Kittitian, Felix Dexter who was due to chair this seminar. The proceedings will now be chaired by the multi-talented comedian, actor, writer, director, presenter and producer, Ms Angie Le Mar. Email: [email protected] to register.

WHO IS MARCUS RYDER?

Marcus Ryder is the Editor of Current Affairs BBC Scotland. He executive produces all of the television current affairs output produced by Scotland Current Affairs for BBC Scotland, The News Channel and BBC Network.

He has executive produced over 20 Panorama programmes including “The Money Farmers”, “The Return Of The Secret Policeman”, “All Work & Low Pay”, “Disabled or Faking It?” “Surgery’s Dirty Secrets” and “Smoking And The Bandit”.

Marcus has won several awards for his programmes including: RTS for Best Regional Current Affairs Programme, The Foreign Press Award for Best Sports Journalism, and five Bafta Scotland Current Affairs awards.

Marcus also oversees radio current affairs output for BBC Radio Scotland and as co-executive producer of “The Investigation” won the Sony Gold Award for a News Special.

Before taking up his position as Editor of BBC Scotland Current Affairs Marcus was appointed series producer of “Whistleblower” from 2005 – 2007 he oversaw some of the BBC’s most high profile current affairs programmes including prime time BBC1 undercover investigations into Barclays bank and Britain’s leading supermarket (both exposing illegal activity).

Marcus has an interest in increasing diversity in broadcasting both in front and behind the camera. He sits on the BBC Scotland Diversity Champions Group and is the Chair of the RTS Diversity Group.

When he’s not thinking about television and broadcasting he is normally running. He has run six marathons and two half marathons. He dreams one day of running a sub three hour marathon and is still exhausted from running the Kenyan Nairobi marathon in October 2013.
