BANKER MAS CAMP in conjunction with SPIRIT will be launching ‘Somewhere in Taiwan’ on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Sandy Point Hard Court.
‘Somewhere in Taiwan’ is the name of Banker Mas Camp’s sixth production for National Carnival and according to the mas camp’s designer Keeshan ‘Banker’ Walwyn, the theme is a reflection of the National Day of Taiwan, 100 years Celebration and it also reflects the relations between Taiwan and St. Kitts.
“I thought it best we pay tribute to that,” he said.
Walwyn said the troupe will feature five sections; ‘Sun, Moon, Lake’; ‘Lantern Festival’; ‘Ilha Formosa’; ‘Jade Empress’ and ‘Kite Master’.
He said that each segment is of significance to Taiwan and that ‘Kite Master’ will be an all male section.
This year will mark ten years since Walwyn has been making costumes, something he is very proud of and will continue to do once he has eyes to see, he remarked.
He also wanted to extend gratitude to the people around him who has been helping him make the costumes and said they have been doing a good job.
The launch of ‘Somewhere in Taiwan’ will be a fiery night of performances according to a press release and will also feature local acts Shakki, Kash Man, DC, Mighty Ace, Calyspo Craig and the Kollision Band.
There will also be music by Unstoppable Sound.
Walwyn said that he is excited to be teaming up with SPIRIT who he felt successfully re-launched the Black San Bang-A-Lang event.
The community group has described the collaboration with Banker Mas Camp as a fusion of community and culture.

“We’ve seen through our very own Black San’ just how effective culture is as a tool to bring people together and we couldn’t think of a better partnership for the 40/40 Celebrations!” Wyatt said in a release.
