Post-Event Highlights | 7th ACSIS Exchange Webinar
The seventh edition of the ACSIS Exchange Webinar Series brought together leaders from Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora to discuss how our regions can shape solutions to global challenges such as immigration, climate change, and systemic health inequalities.
Featured speakers included:
- Dr. Michelle Moseley – Financial Consultant
- Dr. Michaelene Holder-March – Healthcare Executive
Together, they explored how advancing health and life sciences is central to protecting lives and safeguarding sovereignty over health and development agendas.
Key themes included:
Emotional well-being as a foundation for partnerships – Dr. Moseley emphasized that shared traumas continue to impact trust and collaboration. She advocated for wellness programs, cultural exchanges, and sustainable connections to ensure prosperity includes mental and emotional health.
Tackling health disparities – Dr. Holder-March highlighted chronic illnesses such as hypertension and diabetes, the stigmatization of HIV, and maternal health challenges for Black women. She called for inclusive clinical trials, culturally sensitive care, and a centralized clinical data repository to empower communities and improve outcomes.
Community solidarity – The Afro-Caribbean community was urged to unite as a “village,” creating health conversations in churches, markets, and grassroots spaces while training younger generations to become health advocates.
This powerful dialogue reinforced that healing past traumas and strengthening Afro-Caribbean connections are key to building healthier, more resilient futures.
