Facing The Storm

I had to laugh as I wrote this week’s article! Recently I wrote a piece about making room for the unexpected which was based on my recent trip to Ireland, little did I know at the time of writing that I would be returning back to England to face a whirlwind storm of such great magnitude that I literally thought I’d be wiped out by it. This situation was so painful that I wanted to retreat back to Ireland to the place where I was a happy and carefree lady. The irony is I had to make room in my life and deal with this unexpected event, whether I liked it or not.

Anyone who has a loved suffering from paranoia schizophrenia knows how sad it is to watch them deteriorate, in this instance it’s my own dear mother. I haven’t seen my mum in years (not my choice) but I was kept in the loop about her health. However I received news upon my return to the UK last week that my mother was missing and had not been seen for over a year.

On hearing this my whole being went into a tailspin, I wasn’t able to eat, drink, sleep or concentrate. As various reports came in from the authorities and my family, being her only daughter I knew that I had to garner strength from God and not let my emotions overwhelm me like a tidal wave, which was beginning to happen. I needed God to stabilize and centre me quickly, which meant I had to get into ‘His Word’ as that is the only way for me to think with clarity and sleep in peace.

The bible says in Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you”. This means that despite what’s happening with my mother right now, God is asking me to trust Him with the outcome. As a result despite no news of her whereabouts to date I know that whatever happens God is in control and He knows how to work everything out.

What storm are you facing right now? How are you coping and who is supporting you through it. For me I’ve called on my prayer partners to pray, as a result I’m feeling a stronger sense of peace. Do I know how things will turn out, no I don’t but that’s OK because everything is in God’s Hands. I want to encourage you today not to go through life storms on your own as the emotional waters will drown you, seek the help of balanced, trusted sound friends and family who will keep you on the train of hope, also look to ‘The Almighty God’ as He’s the only one who can save and bring you through the other side of your storm safely!

Until next time, remember you are beautiful and wonderfully made – With love Amanda x
