We also wish to announce that Amanda Rooney has been replaced by veteran police officer Leroy Logan.
Leroy Logan is a science graduate with several years postgraduate medical research experience before joining the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) in 1983, serving in predominantly inner London stations. He has a strong operational background as a uniform officer, involving serious criminal investigation and under cover surveillance.

His last borough posting was in Hackney as the Deputy Borough Commander where he had a significant role to play in the borough receiving an unprecedented three annual consecutive Commissioner’s Commendations for top performance in London (04-07).
In November ’07 –‘12 he was was part of the national police team who successfully co-ordinated the safety and security of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games, additionally Leroy contributed to the post Games Legacy report to Cabinet Office.
Previous Project Management roles resulted in Leroy delivering an award winning community empowerment and consultation programme in Westminster, which had been conceived, developed and delivered by the Metropolitan Black Police Association (Met BPA).
It was the driving force behind the formation of a thriving young person’s forum called the YBPA (Young Black Positive Advocates), made up of graduates from the Leadership Programme launched in 2001, which now has BTECH accreditation equivalent to a GCSE. All of these initiatives are in the process of being rolled out across London under the BPA Charitable Trust that he chairs.
Through his active role in the Met BPA, as a founder member and past Chair, Leroy also contributed to their written and oral submission to the Lawrence Inquiry, and this led him to being a member of the Lawrence Steering Group chaired by the Home Secretary. He was also selected to give written and oral submission to the Victoria Climbie’ Inquiry, in addition to the 2005 and 2009 Metropolitan Police Authority inquiries.
He also made personal submission to the Home Affairs Committee on ‘Young Black People and the Criminal Justice System in early 2007, which inspired him to develop his own youth outreach and community engagement company called REALLITY (Raising Everyones’ Awareness of Lives Lost In The Youth); www.reallity.org.

As a result of being the first Chair of the National Black Police Association in 1998, Leroy was asked to take part in the original World Conference Against Racism in Durban 2001 and the follow up review in Geneva in April 2009, to show how the advancement of race and equality issues leads to improvements in the Police Service and wider society.
As a result of his leadership role in the Damilola Taylor investigation Leroy put forward the business case for affinity based policing by showing diversity in action, which contributed to the development of the award winning Cultural and Communities Resource Unit in the MPS and other enforcement agencies across the country.
Leroy’s achievements have been recognised in the Queen’s January 2000 honours list with the MBE for his contribution to policing. In 2005 he was awarded the Long Service Police medal and the Queen’s 2002 and 2012 Jubilee medals. He was the recipient of the Association of Colleges National Gold award in 2010 for his contribution to education. In 2012 he became a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. He is an accomplished public speaker and opinion former.
