Is it right to renounce your citizenship? Just asking!!!!
The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) has displayed documents which indicate three of its proposed candidates have renounced their United States citizenship.
The three are: Manchester Central flag bearer Danville Walker, St Catherine East hopeful Sharon Hay Webster and Dr Patrece Charles Freeman who is slated to run in St Thomas Eastern.
“These persons have seen the need to surrender their foreign nationality to ensure that they are fully Jamaicans and we applaud them,” JLP general secretary Aundre Franklin said during a press conference.
Under the constitution, persons who are under the acknowledgement of allegiance or obedience to a foreign power are not qualified to be Parliamentarians.
