Historically Britain has not had a shining record with race relations with issues with how Black immigrants (West Indians and Africans) and Asian immigrants. The government’s announcement that over 100,000 British families have offered to take in displaced Ukrainians from the Russian invasion has caused much resentment among the Black community in the UK. What is interesting is the feelings of many White citizens who find the gesture uncharacteristic. See this comment.
