Ground has been broken at a ceremony on the site of the major new terminal at VC Bird International Airport. At a cost of 45 Million Dollars, the government of Antigua and Barbuda is hoping to boost tourist numbers, as well as creating hundreds of new jobs and promoting economic growth. Featuring extensive retail space with a food court and modern comforts such as Wi-Fi Internet Access, the 165,814 square foot terminal will have 26 check-in counters, 20 immigration desks and three passenger walkways.
