JAMINATION

Jamaicans Dominating at 2015 World Championships

“When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it ….”Henry Ford

The world is in awe (and probably some are even envious) of the stellar performance of the Jamaicans at the IAAF World Championships. Many doubted that the Jamaicans would perform so well and had to stuff their words down their throats when the Jamaicans just kept ‘medalling’.

Everyone wants to know the reason behind the Jamaicans doing so well. If it’s not drugs then what could it be? Well the answer is simple really; we’re just naturally fast runners. The morning of the 29th, many Jamaicans were on a high after they saw our teams take the 100m finals for both genders.

One pleasant surprise was Danielle Williams taking the 100m hurdles, even Danielle herself didn’t think she would win. According to www.jamaicaobserver.com, Danielle stated:

“At the start of the season did I think this would be the outcome? No I did not. I was just hoping to make it to the final of the World Championships and hopefully be a factor in my event. I won. I am happy and looking forward to next year,” said an elated Williams.

The magnitude of the victory, however, did not resonate immediately with Williams.

“To be honest I feel no different. I don’t know what I am supposed to be feeling,” said Williams.

“It’s definitely a morale booster, I am the world champion and I will try and work hard and not get complacent and I have never been to the Olympics, so that’s the target right there,” she added.

Williams is just 22 and captured the WC 100m hurdles at 12.57 s. So we have much to look out for from this young rising star. Today could be called euphoric for Jamaicans as overwhelming support poured via Social Media for all our athletes in Beijing. Many used the hashtag #Jaminate #TeamJamaica #ProudJamaican #LikkebutwiTallawah but the best one of all is #Jamination as all eyes are on us at the World Championships and who’s to say we truly don’t deserve it?

This morning, our beloved star athlete Shelly-Ann Fraser posted on her FB page (with a photo showing Jamaica in 2nd place in the medal count):

Medal Table

“Wishful thinking to imagine Jamaica will pass USA in medal count”…..Naw call nuh name, but you know yourself. These relay performances are what the world will remember. Congrats to Federick Dacres placing 7th in the discus final. We could not have asked for more. #Beijing2015 #MoreMedals.

She’s right, we couldn’t ask for more. We are thoroughly pleased with the performances of all our athletes, whether they medalled or not. They were all extraordinary. Kudos to you all, you made us proud! We are a truly blessed nation and many are thankful to the Almighty for these grand performances. Our Jamaican Flag continues to fly high #Jamination

Here are the races if you missed them (guaranteed that you pressed the rewind button twice):
