St Lucia Confirms 22,935 Citizens Received Vaccine

Wednesday April 7, 2021 the Ministry of Health and Wellness received confirmation from the Ezra Long Laboratory of *8* new cases of COVID-19. These results are from a batch of 172 samples taken during the period April 3 to April 5, 2021. These samples were processed on April 6, 2021.

These individuals were seen at various community respiratory clinics where they were assessed and tested for COVID-19. In keeping with the COVID-19 testing protocol, they were placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting the return of their COVID-19 test results. Arrangements have been made to place these newly diagnosed cases in isolation. The contact tracing for these new cases is currently underway.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 12 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the total number of active cases currently recorded in country to date to 120. At present, one of the active cases requires critical care at the Respiratory Hospital. The new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to *4312*.

As of Tuesday April 6, 2021 a total of *22,839* individuals have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The Ministry of Health reminds the public during the week April 6 to April 9, 2021 the COVID-19 vaccination drive will also cater to principals, teachers and ancillary staff at various schools around the island.  Thursday, April 8, 2021 the health team will be administering the COVID-19 vaccine at the Vigie Sports Complex.

Thursday April 8, 2021 the Ministry of Health and Wellness received confirmation of *17* new cases of COVID-19 from the Ezra Long Laboratory.
This is from a batch of 176 samples taken during the period April 4, 2021 to April 7, 2021. These samples were processed on April 8, 2021.

All of these individuals were seen at various community respiratory clinics where they were assessed and tested for COVID-19. In-keeping with the national COVID-19 testing protocol, they were each placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting receipt of their test results. Arrangements have since been made to place these individuals in isolation. The contact tracing for these new cases is underway.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 18 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 bringing the total number of active cases in country to date to 118. Presently, one of the active cases is requiring critical care at the Respiratory Hospital. The new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to *4329*.

The Ministry of Health reports one COVID-19 related death bringing the total number of deaths in country to 64. Death #64 is a 92 year old male from the Gros-Islet district with underlying medical illnesses who passed away while in care. The Ministry of Health expresses condolences to the family and loved ones of this gentleman.

As of April 7, 2021 a total of *22,935* individuals have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
