The Alleyne School Alumni Association UK are riding high following the successful staging of their 40th Anniversary Dinner & Dance at the Holiday Inn Bloomsbury last Saturday.
Graced
Commedian Wayne Rollins, famed for his outlandish performances as a Bajan cross dresser affectionately known as Dibbi, his alter ego, stole the show.
In spite of the music being suitably chosen for the evening and delivered by DJ Tafawa under the Studio One Syndicate, Dibbi was not to be ignored.
As host he facilitated the presentations made by Alleyne School Alumni Association president Dr Beverley Goring who took the time to acknowledge past and present long standing members and to outline the good work of the association.
Vice president Gilmour Smith in his typical jocular style kept the guests informed of the goings on and recognised the many persons who made the event possible.
Awards were given to several persons for various reasons, presented by the Hon. Deputy High Commissioner Johnson. Of particular significance was the award given to Alleyne School Alumni Association secretary Ms Andrea Rock for her sterling contribution to the organisation.
Support was received from several companies including Taste Of Barbados, represented by Mr Peter Martin and Barbados Nation represented by Mr Tyrone Roach. The event was sponsored by CaribDirect Multi-Media Limited.
It is fair to say the event was a resounding success and was enjoyed by all. Planning has begun for next year’s dinner & dance so as they say watch this space! For more pictures click here.
